MEET THE BOARD
about us
The IV 9/11 Stair Climb Committee is a non-profit organization with a small group of members who represent the fire community, law enforcement community and the stakeholder communities within the Imperial Valley. Our priority is to ensure that the Imperial Valley "Never Forgets," and remembers to honor and pay tribute to the heroes of September 9/11, while enhancing the morale, welfare and productivity of our first responders, and the community we serve.
The vision of the IV 9/11 Stair Climb Committee is to continue our partnership with the community in observance of an annual memorial event during the weekend of September 11. This memorial and stair climb event is a way for the Imperial Valley to come together and pay respect to the 343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement personnel and the 10 emergency medical personnel who selflessly gave their lives during the terrorist attacks in 2001.
In addition to honoring the fallen heroes of 9/11, the IV 9/11 Stair Climb Committee uses this annual event as a meaningful opportunity to bring the community together in unity and purpose. The event encourages participants of all ages to engage in physical activity, promoting healthy habits while offering a symbolic glimpse into the physical and mental demands faced daily by our public safety personnel. Families, children, and individuals from all walks of life are invited to take part—whether climbing stairs, walking, or cheering others on.
For many of our younger participants, who were not yet born in 2001, this event provides a powerful and educational experience to learn about the courage, sacrifice, and resilience shown by first responders during one of the most significant events in our nation's history. By fostering community spirit, wellness, and awareness, the Stair Climb is more than a memorial—it’s a celebration of unity, service, and remembrance.
